Letter to Elected Official Final Checklist:
1. Does the letter have inside and outside addresses?
2. Is the letter addressed to the correct person?
3. Does the letter have a date?
4. Does the letter have a signature line?
5. Does the letter directly state its main concern by referencing
the bill in question in the first paragraph?
6. Does the letter clearly state whether you are writing in
support or opposition to the bill or resolution?
7. Does the letter have 3-4 reasons that support or explains
the reasons for support or opposition of the bill?
8. Are the supporting arguments in descending order of
importance?
9. Does the letter take into account opposing viewpoints?
10. Is the letter edited? Does it have grammatical or mechanical
errors?
11. Is the graphic organizer included?
12. Did you list your sources on the graphic organizer?
13. Are all drafts of the letter included?
14. Did you address all comments or critiques from classmates
and the instructor in your revisions?
